My name is Jared Smith. I am originally from Montana, but have lived in Taylorsville for the past 30 plus years. I am married and have 2 wonderful children.
I graduated from the University of Utah in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sport Science Pedagogy. I was on the University Deans List the last two years while finishing my studies. I completed my student teaching at Bennion Jr. High school in Taylorsville. I worked at Taylorsville High School teaching the study skills class. Currently I work at Taylorsville Elementary and Lake Ridge Elementary as the school PE Specialist. I really enjoy teaching these young kids. Seeing the growth and development that takes place each year is amazing. And when I am feeling down or not my best, having a kids ask "What's for PE today?" really helps my spirits and makes me strive to do my best every day for these kids.
I enjoy being outdoors and staying active. During the summer months and when we don't have school I can be found doing things like: camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, running, playing Ultimate Frisbee, golfing, flag football, basketball, gardening and keeping my yard looking good. I also enjoy going backpacking and traveling. If there is some activity or game to play there is a good chance you can find me doing it. I have yet to try a sport or game I don't enjoy.
